i also just got a siamese cat today – actually she’s my sister’s cat. the thing you can do is make your cat comfortable and secure in his new place i’ve read that siamese cats bond with one person but they are very social cats. so even if your cat has bonded with his previous owners, you can still get him at ease by “introducing” your sent to him – and i know this will sound stupid, but – try to talk to him, my cat responds to me whenever i talk to her and right now she’s sleeping at the crook of my arm while i type.

Give the cat time & let him dictate the speed of developing the relationship. it sounds as if he has been thru a real upheaval & he is going to be withdrawn & careful until he is sure he is in a safe place & won’t be hurt or neglected…

Siamese are in a world apart. You can’t “make” them do anything. Just put his food out & walk away. He may come to you sometime, but the key is patience, lots & lots of patience. If you try to rush it you’ll only push him away. Good luck.

Be patient. Leave the food unattended in whatever room you’re keeping him in (you should keep new cats in a small room with toys, food, and a litter box until they get settled). Sit with him, reading or doing something else quiet. This will help him get used to you. Also, try doing some interactive play w/ a fishing pole toy. Its OK if he doesn’t splay with it immediately – like I said patience is everything. Let him set the pace. Also, give him some hiding places in his little room like boxes. It may make him more comfortable.

Like they said, Siamese are an odd bunch. Just take your time with him, let him get used to the fact that his old owners aren’t around any more. It might help if you get something from your friend (Like an old teeshirt, unwashed) and leave it somewhere that the kitty can get to easily. It might make him feel more at home in his new enviorment.

Siamese are a tough breed…..when they bond with one person, they are not so willing to give them up. Your cat is trying to figure out its new environment and the fact that his “people” are no longer around. Give him time to adjust.
